We're all so alike it's scary, in my family

Yesterday, after a massive Thanksgiving dinner, we spent a good two hours shrilly discussing the spiritual and temporal faults of basically every vague acquaintance we've ever encountered. Right after that, we spent two and a half hours silently weeping while watching It's A Wonderful Life.

We are nothing if not mercurial.

Ok, we totally did that over turkey dinner last night, too. But the funny part was... well the funny highlights are:
1) in the whole 2+ hours we only bitched about one couple.
2) over half the guests, my hub-man and i included, had never even met the highly-critized twosome.
3) the couple in question was scheduled to join us at the end of the two hours.

it was bad. we were even shown a picture of their wedding, which we promptly attacked: there was debate about whether that was indeed a cold sore next to the bride's mouth.

then the bets started. there were bets about how many times she would belittle him on this visit. there were bets about whether they will be married in two years, in three years, etc. we went through 6+ bottles of wine, trying to stay respectably buzzed 'til the much-discussed couple came and went.

needless to say, it was hella awkward when they arrived.
